What is Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity' means the different ways our brains work and think. It's all about understanding that people's brains work in unique ways. The 'Medical Model,' on the other hand, thinks some brain differences need fixing. These differences can be things like how we deal with light, sound, eye contact, how we talk literally, our personal space, and how we connect with others.

A 'neurodiversity-affirming lens' is a positive way to look at our brain differences. It's about saying, "Hey, our brains might work differently, and that's okay!" Instead of seeing these differences as problems, we accept and celebrate them.

When we talk about 'neurodivergent qualities,' we mean the special traits linked to brains that work in their own way. For example, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and Tourette's syndrome are all part of neurodivergence. Embracing neurodiversity means recognizing these differences as strengths and appreciating the awesome perspectives neurodivergent people bring. It's all about celebrating our unique minds and the great things they can do.
